(or The Rainbow Birds)
The dream is asleep inside
Deep amidst the dust of the days gone
And the reddish black iron of the bars
The captive is awake and naked and wounded
Always wide awake in his dark foggy cell
So painfully awake, that seems asleep
He doesn’t even know that the dream is sleeping in his cell
From the warm forests of the rainbow
A little blue bird came by one of those chances
Mysteriously written in the folios of the universe
Since the beginning of time and light
Used to fly in freedom and friendly skies
She dared to cross the frontier into the cage
Determined to join the dream and the dreamer
With the only simple things she had and knew
Began her task and mission as if it was the only and last
Flying through the thick narrow darkness
She sang songs of freedom and hope
Covered the walls with the dust of the stars
And turned the bars into spirals of warm wind
Repeating and repeating: I’ll free you, because I’m the bird!
The unsustainable lightness of truth and freedom
Will give dwelling to the light asleep
A winged home with the doors opened to the horizon
A blue sky following the path of time and utopia
And so the task went on, echoing on the clouds
Her song fills the cell with the sounds of light:
I’ll free you, because I’m the bird!
The walls are falling, shadow by shadow
Stone by stone of icy fears and crystal shields
The sunbeams of dawn are joining the stars’ dust
The captive opens finally his eyes in his restless vigil
The bars, turned into wind and wishes, are his wings
The dream finally awakes inside the dreamer
From inside the cage two birds fly
Towards the warm forests of the rainbow
And the little blue bird keeps singing:
If I can be the bird, so can you
So, fly, new bird of the rainbow,
Your wings are awake and free…
